CYCLING BMX: João Boeira 9ºA

• Characteristics:

       It´s the newest Olympic cycling discipline, and i also the most radical, with giant leaps. It´s a fast and dangerous sport.

• Rules:

        Eight cyclists race simultaneously over an obstacle course, jumping into the air.         

         Wins the first to cross the finish line.

In Rio 2016, the winners were: Maris Strombergs (from Latvia), Sam Willoughby (from  Australia) and Mike Day (from USA).

• Curiosities:

         Bycicle moto cross, or BMX, originated at the end of the 60’s in California.

         The first BMX world championships were held in Las Vegas in 1982.
